We have all suffered from guilt at some point in life. Some guilt is real on account of our actions and some is imposed on us through others. Can you think of a time you felt guilty when you were not responsible? Some people try and burden individuals with guilt to be able to elevate them selves up. Often their accusations begin with a grain of truth. They distort the facts to position the actual guilt on an individual. Feeling the necessity to demonstrate your innocence is very agonizing as well.
Sometimes our guilt will be the consequence of moral failings. The list of wrongdoings can be quite long that will range in our minds from small problems to sins that appear worse, or even have worse consequences. We occassionally can easily justify our behavior by means of comparing our errors to those of other people. Feeling guilty is actually healthy. If we do not have inner thoughts associated with doing wrong, exactly what does that express with regards to us? People that seem to have absolutely no remorse or even have no conscience will often be labeled as hardened criminals, cold-hearted, or anti-social. They don’t actually feel guilty. In this sense we can embrace our feelings involving guilt and set about to modify our behaviour involving our wrong doing or maybe immorality.
Perhaps you have tried to change your very own negative actions, or maybe weak points, however find yourself repeating, “I am sorry” or maybe “I will not let that happen once again?” I know I have. I claim I am sorry and promise myself that I will not repeat similar actions. Yet almost no time passes before I am in the same circumstance all over again. I feel trapped in a pattern involving sinning, feeling guilt, and attempting to change myself.
Sometimes we do things that we simply cannot rationalize and that appear to be unforgiveable. Forgiving yourself along with being guilt free might seem impossible. Maybe it is an affair. You cheated on the love of your life, your children’s father or mother. You have caused hurt along with serious suffering to the individuals you care for most. Perhaps you or a girlfriend became pregnant and chose an abortion only to discover you feel tormented almost all the time from your choice. You are captured from your completely wrong doing and nothing seems to lessen the anguish and also the guilt that is ripping at your very spirit. Guilt like many hurts in everyday life robs people from the life we want to live.
