Pay-to-Click Sites: Are They Profitable Enough?

One of the leading online marketing fads that currently attracts many beginners is to start with Pay-to-Click Sites (PTC). I am one of those individuals. But before I proceed, in the event that you are not aware as to how these sites work, allow me to explain further. A PTC website pays you some money for merely watching a short advertisement, normally lasting around half a minute or so. Once you've viewed the advert you are paid the tiny amount of money into your account balance and you must then amass it into a particular sum, such as $5, before you can cash it out. In addition, nearly all of these PTC sites have a bit more to them, like special options accessible only to members, and referral rewards.

Whether you gain your referrals yourself or buy them, when those people view adverts, you make more or less half of the money they get. Hence, if you get one cent from viewing an advert, you'll get half a penny from the people you refer to the program. It doesn't appears like it's worth much but it can amount to something if you manage to get thousands of referrals. There are also special membership options that allow you to get more referrals, more adverts and more money for every last click (often for both your own clicks and your referrals' clicks). Even if you might generate a bit more money with one of the enhanced plans, they generally cost a a lot up front, so take caution.

Now let's say you sign up to a PTC program and it has 4 advertisements. You become a member and get a thousand people. And let's say that both you and your referrals make one cent for every click. So if you watch all 4 adverts and all of your referrals watch all 4 adverts, that's a sum of 40 dollars. Appears pretty good, correct? Forty dollars each day can go a long way.

But, the terrible truth is, virtually all PTC sites are frauds. Think "pyramid schemes", for that is what essentially all of them are. They are known as "pyramids" because just those people at or close to the top generate any money, while those lower down normally end up getting nada. Hence, if 10 people put in $10 each, that sums up to one hundred dollars. The guy on top may pay out $15 to 4 individuals and keep the remainder himself, leaving nearly all of the people unpaid. The way PTC programs accomplish this is through getting you to invest in membership and referrals (normally not even actual people but bots) and then they pay out with money that other folks have put in membership and referrals. Since so many referrals may merely be bots, and thus non-paying, the money from watching ads isn't going to cover all the pay-outs. Eventually, folks are going to stop investing in the PTC site and the last individuals to invest lose out. If you are one of the ones at the top, in from the beginning, there's a good chance of making a little money, but it is not balanced by the risks.

I suggest you stay away from PTC sites. The only way you will be able to generate even a tiny sum of money is to be the head scammer or one of his buddies. Everyone else who join turns a loss. I don't care for the odds . . . or the karma.
