Motion Gaming Needs To Do More

When the idea of motion gaming first started a few years ago, it created a lot of new gamers. The idea of using a motion controller for all of the action was something that was very different. While a peripheral like a steering wheel allowed people to play some games more realistically it is not the same as motion controllers. The Wii allowed gamers to use their bodies to control the game although they still required the use of a controller.

People stood in long lines to purchase the newest type of video game system because it offered something new. The buyers were swept up by the newest way to play video games. As time went on some people started to realize the limitations of the controllers. People had to worry about throwing the controller out of their hand as they played. A lot of people did not feel that the Wii was good for all of the games that they enjoyed to play.
People were fast to jump on the Wii bandwagon. A family’s entertainment needs were not met if they did not own one of these consoles. Parents and kids alike were able to get off the sofa and move when they began playing. But like many other fads, the excitement wore off. Adults who were dedicated users at first did not continue to play as much. Other parts of their lives got in the way.

Manufacturers of the gaming consoles knew that there was still a sizable market for them to try to capture and eventually the Playstation Move and the Xbox 360 Kinect hit the market to legions of fans who said that they offered mass improvements with their new motion gaming technology and hoped that this would bring people who have been turned off by the Wii back into the fold as buyers of their new systems. There are many things the game systems can do, but it is not always worth spending a lot of money and a lot of time to be able to use the games to their fullest extent. That does not mean that they are not getting better with time, they are. In order to give the older generation all of the entertainment that is needed they need to keep finding ways to improve them.

The complexity of the games is often not enough to keep an older person involved. After a while a person will lose interest in a game that they thought was good when they began playing it. As a person loses interest, the game console sits unused. It becomes a very expensive investment that does not provide the returns.

People had other issues with the gaming systems. The costs with them can become astronomical and even if a person manages to find out how to get a free Xbox 360 they will still find themselves spending money on the games, accessories and even for a monthly subscription to a service that comes along with the game that allows them to connect to other people with the same systems. People would have to keep using their credit card to purchase another must have item for the gaming system.

People struggled with how well the games actually tracked their body movements. There are many movements that are not natural. People broke things because of the movement and not being able to hold onto the controllers and many people faced injuries due to the game systems. Not every game is made for a person to control with their body. People still want to play some games the old fashioned way.
The new gaming systems do have problems. That is the bad part about them. Companies, however, are always working to make the consoles better. They are getting better and could become something that is very worth while. It is up to the companies to figure out how to fill our needs.
