Did Your Thyroid Make You Add The Pounds






Controlling how much you weigh is a difficult process. When you want to know why a person has a problem, you do not typically have to look at many things. When a person does not work out at all and does not get the proper nutrition they will be facing weight issues. Unfortunately for some people following a proper diet and getting regular physical activity does not help them maintain a healthy weight. For those people it might take a doctor to figure out the reason behind weight gain. The extra pounds could be the result of a problem in their body they are unaware of. A person should have them checked out if they have unexplained weight gain.

One of the causes of weight gain can be due to a thyroid condition and the symptoms of low thyroid condition include fatigue, lack of appetite, jaundice, depression, sore throat, dry skin, trouble concentrating and for mostly women hair loss and weight gain which all could be a sign of hyperthyroidism, (over active), and hypothyroidism, (under active).

When a thyroid is overproducing the normal levels of hormone it leads to the condition known as hyperthyroidism. The most common cause of hyperthyroidism is called Graves' disease, an autoimmune condition resulting in over producing thyroid hormone by an enlarged gland. Males are less likely than females to have this affliction which usually affects the younger people rather than the older people.

Hypothyroidism is a condition that doesn't produce enough thyroid hormone. The most common cause of hypothyroidism is called Hashimoto's disease, antibodies that attacks the thyroid causing destruction towards the thyroid hormone production.

Problems with the thyroid are more common than someone might realize and this is important for a person who is suffering to understand. There have been many articles written that display how wide spread the issue is and that many people are in the same boat. Hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism are autoimmune thyroid diseases, and if you have one autoimmune disease you can easily increase the risk of attracting another autoimmune disease.

For that reason, it is essential to do something to help your thyroid. The types of treatments can vary and a person might try one or a combination of things that include prescription medicine, over the counter supplements, low thyroid diet pills, special diets to follow, or possible surgery, but the problem is that know two people can be treated exactly the same so it becomes more of a case of trial and error to find a combination and dosage of medicine that is effective for a specific individual.

Once a person becomes accustomed to the changes in lifestyle they must make, it becomes a part of their regular routine. As a person becomes accustomed so does the thyroid. It is possible that a person will have to continually adjust their treatment plan. Problems with the thyroid are a chronic condition. A thyroid condition is something that a person will need to be vigilant about. It is the only way for a person to stay healthy.

Immune disorders are more common than many people think. When you are suffering from one of these issues it does not mean you are a social pariah. There could be someone in the nearby area that is dealing with a similar issue at the same time.

When something is wrong with the body it should not be ignored. A woman should be careful when they lose or gain weight suddenly or if they are finding lumps of hair on the floor. The symptoms are not like to resolve themselves. In order to treat the condition a person needs to do certain things that are very specific. In order to find out what a person is supposed to do, a health professional should be involved.
